Chicago housing market catches investment fever

Homes are looking like good investments again.

The median-priced resale home in the Chicago area leaped 7.3percent in the past year to nearly $90,900 from $84,700, reports theNational Association of Realtors.

The new national survey, which covers resales through June,ranks Chicago 10th in the nation in resale home prices.

Resale home values in No. 1-ranked New York jumped 14.4 percentto a median price of $183,000. Second-place Boston, with a medianprice of $175,000, saw home values leap 12.5 percent.
