SA: Auto industry on the verge of big things, says Phillips

ADELAIDE, Feb 22 AAP - No longer the "basket case" of the 1970s and 80s, Australia's
automotive industry was now on the verge of becoming a key resource in global vehicle
planning, Mitsubishi Australia managing director Tom Phillips said today.

Mr Phillips said mergers and acquisitions in the world automotive industry, cuts to
trade barriers and reducing consumer concerns on where cars were built had thrown more
options into the global planning process.
