QLD:Ingham expecting widespread damage
BRISBANE, Feb 3 AAP - Ingham mayor Pino Giandomenico expects daybreak will reveal widespread
damage after Category Yasi unleashed its fury on the north Queensland coast.
Yasi made landfall at Mission Beach about midnight, about 100km north of Ingham, as
a category five storm, packing winds of up to 290km/h.
Mr Giandomenico, a veteran of several cyclones, said the ferocity of the cyclone was
frightening in Ingham but it was too soon to say what damage the town had sustained.
