Fed: Don't underestimate Aust's influence on US: Howard
CANBERRA, Feb 7 AAP - Australia's ability to influence the United States' stance ona possible war with Iraq should not be underestimated, Prime Minister John Howard saidtoday.
Speaking on the eve of his departure for the US, London and Jakarta, Mr Howard saidthe government would prefer that any action against Iraq be authorised by the United Nations.
"Don't underestimate the capacity of a country like Australia to have an influenceon United States' policy because we have a close relationship," he told Melbourne radiostation 3AW.
