Qld: Investigation under way into indigenous prisoner death
Authorities say an investigation has been launched into the death of an Aboriginal
prisoner found in his cell today.
The prisoner, 31, was found at Lotus Glen Correctional Centre in Far North Queensland
at 7.15am (AEST).
A Corrective Services Department spokesman says the death is being investigated by
police and jail officers.
The spokesman says indigenous officers from the department have spoken to the dead prisoner's
relatives, who live on the Gold Coast, and will meet them later today.
